As mobile operators provide WiMAX broadband services they are required to support and maintain a range of new services and devices. They need advanced device management capabilities that will allow uniform, comprehensive and automated management of mobile devices which will reduce their support costs and increase customer satisfaction.
Friendly's WiMAX mobile device management solution allows mobile operators to streamline the deployment and support of WiMAX devices (e.g. wireless dongles) by combining subscriber self-service and help desk assisted service. Based on the OMA-DM standard, it is a vendor-neutral solution, designed to support all types of devices, reducing support costs, while increasing customer satisfaction.
Friendly's solution enables fully automatic self-installation (Zero-Touch Provisioning) - including connection to back office systems, and automatic configuration devices with any parameters, e.g. username, password, service related settings profile, etc.
The ability to remotely diagnose and configure the mobile phone dramatically reduces average call duration time. No need for expensive long conversation with the user on how to configure the device and solve user-oriented provisioning problems.
Friendly's solution enables remote configuration of a group of devices (mass update). The update may include parameters, which are required to maintain the service to the customers. The group can be dynamically created based on the user's info and/or device type (model / firmware version etc).
The system enables downloading full or partial firmware updates. The protocol provides mechanisms for version identification, file download initiation (OMA-DM-initiated downloads), and notification of the OMA-DM of the success or failure of a file download. The update of firmware can be sent to a single device or a group of devices. For security purposes, the file can be digitally signed. This signed package format ensures the integrity of downloaded files, and prevents third parties from remotely configuring the device.
The solution features a self-support portal, which reduces the number of calls to the help desk. Non-technical users can solve the problem by themselves and configure their devices remotely.
Friendly's OMA-DM solution offers the ability to remotely monitor the device operation and health status. The system features diagnostics and monitoring with visual graphic presentation of diagnostics and monitoring tasks. The CSR can view information about a user's device - even when there is no internet connection by viewing the "last-known" data, view current settings of a device, remotely configure, and more.
