Seamless Management of WiMax Devices
Friendly OMA-DM for WiMAX offers remote management of mobile devices from different manufacturers and operating platforms on a single interface. It automates the deployment and support of mobile services and applications, thereby reducing operation and support costs, while enhancing customer satisfaction.
Friendly's solution offers fully automatic self-activation of devices and dongles (Zero-Touch Provisioning) with absolutely no manual input by the user. The system features a WIB Server (WiMAX Initial Bootstrap), which supports the provisioning of un-known devices by integrating with AAA standard servers. Multiple provisioning scenarios are supported, according to customer needs.
The following provisioning scenarios are supported:
Friendly OMA-DM allows comprehensive management of the devices inventory, offering full visibility and control over the devices that are in use by customers. The system offers a wide variety of views and filters that allow rapid access to the information. Any important parameter of the user's and/or device information is used for filtering and sorting. The report can viewed on screen based on columns selected by the administrator, and can be also exported as a CSV file.
The solution offers seamless creation of new data models to be supported by the OMA-DM server. The new device types or data models can be easily added by the system administrator without assistance or extensive knowledge of OMA-DM protocol.
The system enables diagnostics and configuration of a specific device. It can manage the entire data model of the devices, reboot the device or reset to factory default, upload or download a configuration file for backup/restore purposes, and resolve a user's problems easily and efficiently.
The system supports creation of groups, which allow remote configuration of multiple devices at once. The updates may include parameter values, configuration or firmware files, and can be sent to devices of a specific model type, customer-defined groups, or a list of specific devices imported from an external file. The update can be performed immediately, or scheduled for a certain time and date. To reduce OMA-DM server loads, the management console allows control over the frequency and quantity of updates.
Friendly's OMA-DM solution offers remote firmware updates to a single device or a group of devices. It provides mechanisms for version identification, file download initiation (OMA-DM-initiated downloads), and download success/failure notifications. For security purposes, the file can be digitally signed. This signed package format ensures the integrity of downloaded files, and prevents third parties from remotely configuring the device.
