There are various types of CPEs which don't support TR-069 and can be managed by the server or from the PC side (LAN side):
- Older modem/routers which don't support TR-069
- Routers which can support TR-069 but TR-069 is not activated
- Routers for which the existing firmware version doesn't have TR-069 support but a newer one does
- Various IP-phones
- Expensive routers that have their own proprietary management solution
There is an advantage to the carrier to have the CPEs managed remotely, and possibly by the same system or the same software vendor.
Friendly developed 2 lines of products to resolve the problem:
- Server based solution - Server application to manage the CPEs via configuration files or SNMP.
- PC based solution - PC application which identifies the CPE, and configures it according to carrier's/xSP's needs.
Important: These solutions require modifications according to CPE type.
